JD73:Pure Gold (the Extended Mixes), Zed Records, Released 08/11/2010.

This is a DJ friendly 4 track EP package cherry picked from the excellent album Pure Gold including Fantasy, Into the night, Love Will Save The day and Step by Step. Dan Goldman has done it again. Living in his “Analogue Cupboard” studio the multi talented/multi instrumentalist has written, produced and recorded all the tracks and given us one of the best Disco/Boogie/Electric-Jazz EP’s of the year. His super tight production and slick arrangements really shine through with the help of some great vocalists including Nate James, Fraser, Lana, Miss Modest, John McCallum and Fuzzy Jones. Gold!

The Clonious – Truth featuring Paul Randolph, Affine Records, Released 03/12/2010.

Another great track from Viennese producers CD Rimm & The Clonious featuring the ubiquitous Paul Randolph on vocals. Full of warm squelchy sounds and synth pads these guys are proving to be futurist house masters. Paul Randolph’s vocals add a huge amount of class to this track and it's clear that he is becoming one of the greats on the electronic scene. ps Paul’s bass playing has to be seen to be believed. Track him down on Youtube!

Juan Laya and Jorge Montiel – I can make you feel featuring Supa Soul Brotha Del (Alternative Re-edit), Imagenes, Released 29/11/2010.

UK singer Supa Soul Brother Del has teamed up with Juan Laya and Jorge Montiel and delivered a great record that captures all that was great with the New York 80’s Boogie/Funk sound whilst still sounding very 2010. The track contains sprinklings of Prince and has an abundance of Bootsy Collins’ vibe all over the track. The lovely bass sounds are played by George Malammas who recalls the P Funk area with great success. Time to get your funk on!

Richard Spaven – 5ive, Jazz refreshed, Released 06/12/2010.

Essential new mini, and debut 5 track album by the hardest working session drummer in the jazz/soul/electronic world. Synonymous with 4 Hero, The cinematic Orchestra and part of Jose James’ touring band this Jazz Refreshed legend brings us 5 tracks of sublime breaks played live with a host of top musicians including Jose James, Rob Mullarkey, Grant Wilson and Neil Charles. Polyrhythmic broken soul never sounded so good! ps he recorded an additional track onto this mini album and so there are 6 tracks to enjoy instead of 5ive!

Floyd Lawson – Roof Top Sugar, Record Kicks, Released 07/02/2011.

Floyd! Where have you been for the last 35 years! An ex Motown singer who recorded for their subsidiary VIP label as Floyd Lawson and The Hearts of Stone in 1970 has recorded a track that reminds us of how good Disco Soul was back then. Sumptuous production and vocal arrangements with a cracking set of chord changes creates what I’m sure will one of the best party tracks of next year. This track oozes with class and will appeal to discerning Disco lovers all over the world. If you can’t wait until next year then you treat yourself to an early Christmas present and purchase the track digitally from bagpak records now!
