DEEP & TECH HOUSE (March 2011)

Kerri Chandler – Ozone EP (Madhouse Recs)

Often the word legend is bantered around in all walks of life but I don’t think anyone in the House Music fraternity would argue Kerri Chandler doesn’t belong in this category.  Here Kerri goes back to his roots and produces an EP on his own label with a real quality raw old school feel.  “From Day One” booms into life with classic skippy percussion and deep rolling synths.  “13 to 41” gives a master class on how producers should use filters.  “My Moody Life” brings the funk with an inspiring piano solo and “Peace of My Mind” kicks like a mule perfect for peak time dance floors.  This is how House music should sound!

Ladzinski – Just Like That (Boe)

Any label pushing vinyl in 2011 has to be praised and that’s just what London based label Boe do with every single release.  Reaching release number eleven the roster reads like a who’s who of Underground House with artists including Kink, Deymare, Kris Wadswoth, Burnski, Azuni, Iron Curtis and Leif amongst others.  Here Ladzinzki makes his third appearance on the imprint with his first full solo EP.  Three very different and solid tracks make for a nice varied EP with the stand out track being “At Night”.  Boe is a label I recommend you buy on sight.

Lucas Keizer – Gado Gado (Assembly Recordings)

Hailing from Texas Lucas is making quite a name for himself racking up releases on labels like Neurotraxx Deluxe, Kolour Recordings and Tango.  Here he puts out a solid peak time Tech House groover called “Gado Gado”.  On remix duties is Jake Childs who adds a nice deep funky feel to the track while keeping all the original techy elements and adding swing.  Overall this makes for a nice solid release.

Manik – White Motif (Dark Energy Recordings)

Quality Deep House music is the order of the day with this EP already gaining support from the like of Jimpster and the Revenge.  Label bosses Milton Jackson and Shur-I-Kan offer up quite a tasty remix of the title track “White Motif” alongside the original.  “Gotta Have It” has deep moody feel perfect for warm up sets but the cut that really grabs me off the release is “41st Side”.  A haunting repetitive vocal sits amongst driving percussion and sultry stabs making this a real ‘for the floor’ track.

Domsko ft Astral T – Hard Yards (Lost My Dog)

Now in its fifth year Lost My Dog is without doubt one of the most consistent labels around with no signs of letting up any time soon.  Domsko is the moniker of Glasgow’s Dominic Martin who continues the fifth anniversary theme by chalking up release number five on the stable.  Here teaming up with Astral T on vocals he produces a peak time synth laden monster of a track while managing to keep a deeper groove throughout.  As if that wasn’t enough Chicago House don Johnny Fiasco chimes in with a bumpin Vocal remix.  Both artists also supply dub mixes if vocals aren’t your thing.
