Manuel Regnet – Let There Be Soul EP – Crossworld Vintage

I must admit I’d never heard of Manuel Regnet before, but this EP has such a mature sound it’s unbelievable.  Heavily influenced by the Detroit scene Manuel provides two original tracks titled “Let There Be Soul” and “When I Feel That”.  Both offerings manage perfectly to encapsulate the sound you hear on the worlds cooler dance floors.  A couple of nice remixes of the first track are also thrown in by Red8z and Jordan McCuig & Jamie Adams, but the original is so good I can’t look any further.  By far my favourite Crossworld Vintage release to date.

Lovebirds – Want You In My Soul - Winding Road

Based out of Nottingham Winding Road has a habit of releasing quality Deep House music with its impressive roster of talent.  This release welcomes the return of the Lovebirds to the label with a lovely Deep House track.  Stee Down’s haunting vocals and luscious stabs making everything work perfectly on the Original Mix.  Next up is the Dub f*ck mix which is proper warehouse rave material and how all House music should sound.  The final mix on the vinyl is from Hot Toddy who deliver a nice slow mo disco / Deep House take on the original.  A very solid package indeed and also pressed on the lovely black stuff.

The Timewriter – Superschall - Plastic City

Returning to the Plastic City label again The Timewriter delivers a couple of original tracks on this release alongside a remix from M.in.  Up first is the title track Superschall which has a nice uplifiting feel that constantly builds and builds.   With M.in on remix duties they turn in a nice stripped back version with a wicked groove and lively percussion.  The final track on the package is “Velvet Halo” which is a slower moody track with old school synth keys giving off a great vibe.

Humandrone – Beyonder EP – Lost My Dog

Lost My Dog's latest discovery is Humandrone, aka Taka Shibuya from Kanagawa in Japan.  The title track “Beyonder” is a five and half minute Acid House work out that keeps the pressure rising.  Following on are two remixes of the same track from a couple of more familiar names.  Chicago House Legend Joshua Iz’s mix is first and picks up the pace on the original, turning out some real peak time material.  The second remix comes from one of the labels co owners Pete Dafeet.  Pete adds his trademark magic to create a Deep House belter.  The second original track on the package is “Deep Sea & The House” which is just a beautiful piece of electronic music.  To finish off Remote People add their take on “Deep Sea & The House” slowing the pace to 116bpm but keeping the quality high.  This is a rare release where I can play all the mixes and find it hard to pick a favourite.

Various Artists – Rehashed EP – Trendy Mullet

Despite the rather silly name Trendy Mullet has matured into one of the coolest underground labels around.  This release is a celebration of the label reaching its fifth year with some of the more summery releases from the archive.  “Love is reel” by Nick Turner is a 110bpm slow mo Deep House monster.  “The Magic Carpet Ride” by Latecomer is quality Deep uplifting House music perfect for peak times as well as warm up sets.  “Near My Land” by Iran Zolasia is peak time Tribal Tech House that will rip up any floor and “New Life” by Sample Savvy Music is straight up House with Jackin beats and an uplifting vocal.  Due out in July this is a very Good release I recommend you check out.
